  • Playlists created by music experts
  • 100% free
  • Absolutely no listening limits
  • Fantastic music+

Easy to Use and a Lot of Fun

After creating your account — via Facebook or email — you have three options. You can let the Music Concierge select stations based on your mood (stations for Working, Boosting Your Energy, Exploring, New Music, etc.), listen to what’s Popular, or Browse All sections.

If you’re a music aficionado, select Browse All. This is broken up into Genres, Activities, Moods, Decades, Culture, and Record-Store Clerk. Genres include selections that include bluegrass, dancehall, jazz, rock, and more. Activities include selections such as Barbecuing (fun!), Coding (nerd alert!), Getting Lucky, and Hanging Out in the Man Cave. Moods include selections like Earthy, Gloomy, Sad, Warm, and more. Decades includes 50s, 60s, 70s, and so on. Culture includes Britain, Bollywood, Holidays, and Sports, among others. And Record-Store Clerk? Well, that’s where the really good stuff is: Beatlemania, Jazz Giants, Reggae, 70s Deep Cuts, and a lot more.

Here’s an example station: It’s called — with an obvious sense of humor — Girl Hold My Earrings, a station featuring the hardest female rappers in the game. The artist track is followed by a description. You have the choice of Playing or Pausing the track, Saving the Playlist, or Sharing. Below that is a list of similar radio stations and playlists with similar artists. Below that is a comments section that is connected via Facebook. After you find a station you like, add it to your playlist. You can add certain playlists to certain categories (of your choice) to keep playlists organized. If all else fails, do a search in the search box.

Contribute a Playlist

Songza radio allows you to submit your own radio station. Just click on the Contribute Playlist tab and begin. Songza says that for licensing reasons, playlist contributors cannot listen to their own lists, but you can create something fun for others to listen to!

Download the Android, iPad, or iPhone App for Free

Songza’s mobile apps are great. After signing in — again, via Facebook or email — your music concierge opens with radio stations based on your day. Music for waking up with energy or drinking gourmet coffee (if it’s the morning) is displayed. Another click takes you to Genres, Activities, Moods, Decades, Culture, and Record-Store Clerk. If you just want to listen your playlists or favorites from before, they’re all there.

The playback is flawless, which is great, considering the service is free! You will find that Songza radio is very special and, if you really like good music and a sense of humor, it’s the best free radio-streaming service available.
