Home Wireless Network Setup
When it comes to setting up a home wireless network, many people are in the dark. After all,it seems like it would be so complicated. The fact is, it isn’t, and just about anyone can set up a home wireless network without any help whatsoever. Doing so requires only a small amount of technical knowledge, and can be a fun experience.
Once you have your internet service lined up, it’s time to pick up a wireless router. Your service provider will issue you a modem, to which you will connect the wireless router via what is usually a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable, which will usually be provided with either the router or modem. Once the router is connected, your internet signal is now being broadcast throughout your home; no matter where you wish to access the internet, you will be able to so long as your computer contains a wireless card.
Next, you’ll want to install the software that came with your router directly onto your hard drive. You will need to do this in order to configure your router and set up your wireless network. Generally, the software will guide you through everything that must be done in order to set up the network, which will usually involve giving the network a name, setting up a password and customizing the network’s preferences to your needs. Note that this step cannot be skipped, as it is crucial to creating the network you need in your home.
Once your residential home wireless network is configured and ready to go, it’s time to connect. Using any computer with a wireless card, search for nearby networks and connect to the one that you’ve just configured. From here on out, it’s time to enjoy high speed internet in the comfort of home.
